In 1895, a few businessmen and community leaders recognized a need for a local insurance company. The idea was to protect local homes and businesses that more established insurance companies wouldn’t write, all while maintaining affordable rates. Thus, Reamstown Mutual was born.

Jump to 2022: Reamstown Mutual changes its name to Lancaster Mutual Insurance Company. While more standard homeowner and mobile home policies became available in 1963, Lancaster Mutual has stayed true to its deep agricultural roots by writing harder-to-place risks in personal, commercial, and farm lines of business.
